Ag !

OneMac, I bet you're glad the club finally addressed the lack of pace and mobility in midfield that I used to bore you to death with over the last 5+ years ;-). Actually I know you and many others also saw it as our biggest problem too but strange that it took countless West Ham managers and years to address :) with the exception of that period when Behrami was in the team.

Easy peasy this football management malarky aint it? ;-)

They still have some very dangerous goalscorers...

So I hope we don't get too cconfident...

Time to get serious and get some revenge for all the games we've lost against them.....

COYI...

Andy's got it near enough spot on.
(Not forgetting the new big signing forward or forward who ain't scored for ages for em!).

Mind you, I can see us nicking it 1-2 later.
(That's another typical West Ham feeling before a game like this!)

In fact, I was livid well into the following week...

That really did grind my gears

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
In theory, it could be helpful

However, I remember them with a defensive crisis coming to the Boleyn and beating us 4-0 with Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher as centre backs...

I was fuckin' livid that day...it pissed me right off

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
I like to think about what the nerves are like inside Man UTd team and importantly amongst their cornucopia of fans. They are used to winning, not losing and tomorrow 70 odd thousand red and white fans will be shitting themselves. This is our real opportunity. Take the fans out of the game, get them right on the back of their players and we will win the game.

I tell ya, the only way is up!

Alf. Thanks for that. We helped that worst start in 86 with a superb 3-2 win at OT.

That will do again.

You doom and gloom old git ;-)

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
You all know we will get turned over.
Any time any club is facing any sort of a crisis on or off the pitch and it looks like they are there for the taking, and have been turned over the week before/facing relegation/new manager/no manager we fucking lose to them no matter who they are.
That's the real West Ham way

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
Come on lads, we only need to look at the following to know it will be another United victory and 20 in 23 for them against us. West Ham are the "gift that keeps on giving" :-(

•United have made their worst ever start to a Premier League season with five points from five games. Defeat against West Ham would make it their worst start to a top-flight season since 1986-87, when they had four points after six games.
•They have won just one of their last six league games.
•Louis van Gaal's side are yet to face a team who finished in the top half of the table last season, having played Sunderland and Swansea and all three promoted clubs.
•They have lost 10 of their last 25 home games in the league. The previous 10 defeats came across a period of 148 games.
•Wayne Rooney needs one more goal to reach 175 and become the outright third-top scorer in Premier League history, overtaking Thierry Henry. Only Alan Shearer (260) and Andy Cole (189) have scored more

I would have preferred it if they had destroyed Leicester ahead of this game and allowed over-confidence to kick-in.

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
I see Matt Jarvis is fit again, so I hope Allardyce doesn't change the set up from the last two games.

Keep it the same and we could cause them problems with our movement up front.

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
Looks like they're going to play an inexperienced yoof........ fuckin' have emmm

You have to read the last bit in a Steve McLaren voice for best effect.

Louis van Gaal has exclusively revealed to MUTV that the Under-21 defenders will be drafted into his plans due to a lengthening injury list that includes centre-backs Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans. With Tyler Blackett also suspended, Marcos Rojo is expected to switch into the middle but he could be paired with reserve-team captain Thorpe or his Northern Irish colleague McNair.

When asked about the young duo by MUTV's Stewart Gardner, the boss replied: "They are in the squad. That is always why we have a youth education. It was also our policy [to utilise the youth squads] and always the policy of the club too."

The manager also explained why midfielder Daley Blind will not be an option to play in the centre of defence.

"I don't like having too many left-sided defenders or left-footed players in defence," he toldMUTV. "I think always of balance so [instead] I have to pick up a right-sided central defender from the youth education. Normally, I am always doing things like that. I have already said that we have a lot of vacancies when you buy only six players and let 14 players go.

"The amount of injuries is worrying me and they are not coming back," he added. "Smalling is already, for the third time, injured. Evans also. Jones had one injury in the national team, which was unfortunate.

"I am a coach who has a lot of experience and I believe I was never in this situation before so it is surprising me. I am evaluating myself and my staff and also the players and what is wrong. But I cannot imagine what we are doing is at another level to [what I did at] my former clubs. So I have already adapted to a certain level that I think we can play during a game but I cannot train at a lower level."

I just hope that we don't play the disgraceful game that we played at Man City last season. If we attack we have a chance

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
Man Utd will smash us.

It is the West Ham way. If they were fielding a team of paraplegic nuns, given the run they've been on, they would smash us.

We are the 'pick me up' team for clubs on a bad run.

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
It would be ridiculous for us not to attack them and exploit a clear weakness. We will need to score to get a result anyway, so might as well go for it from the off.
